Volkswagen Racing Cup 2011 Dates and Venues announced
Britain’s favourite saloon-car race series, the Volkswagen Racing Cup with Fuchs Lubricants, is set next season to build on its success with an exciting schedule of dates and a regular slot alongside the popular British GT Championship.
The VW championship will support British GT at six of its UK-circuit dates in 2011, and will also return to the legendary Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands for an early-summer special event. There will be twin races at each meeting to form a 14-race championship.
“This year, the championship’s 10th anniversary, was its strongest yet,” said series manager Melissa Wright. “The Volkswagen Racing Cup average grid size was 25 cars, and we know from advance enquiries that we are very likely to exceed that figure in 2011.
“The continued stability of the excellent regulations and a good calendar are key to the championship’s success, and we are delighted to have been invited to return to Zandvoort, the venue this season for our first overseas foray. Competitors will also welcome the chance to race the new Snetterton ‘300’ circuit, as well as the ‘Arena’ track at Silverstone.”
The championship will provide its fans with a taste of the season to come at the Autosport International show at Birmingham’s NEC 15-16 January, when cars from the series will feature in the Live Action Arena shows.
