Milltek's Tom Onslow-Cole joins Volkswagen Racing Cup
A second British Touring Car Championship driver is set to join the grid of the Volkswagen Racing Cup. Following Tony Gilham's race-winning exploits at Spa earlier this month, it’s the turn of Tom Onlsow-Cole to tackle the UK's most competitive junior touring car series.
Milltek Sport's resident racing driver, Onslow-Cole, 25, from New Maldon in Surrey, will step into the hot seat of a brand new Milltek Sport Volkswagen Scirocco race car (see a couple of photos of the car being built below) for a one-off celebrity drive this weekend (4/5 August) at Snetterton.
The Milltek Sport-backed car has just been completed in the Northamptonshire workshops of KPM Racing, and team boss Kevin Poole believes there is no better baptism for it than to put it in the hands of a talented professional: "This is the first of four hire cars we plan to run in 2013, and Tom will give it a good shakedown, I'm sure."
"I won't even see the Milltek Scirocco until Saturday morning, and after a seat fitting it will be straight into qualifying - in at the deep end!" says Onslow-Cole. Although he won't be able to score any points in the VW Cup, Sunday's races will be handy practice for the Snetterton BTCC meeting the following weekend (11/12 August). "I'm looking forward to it though and I think the practice is going to come in useful." One thing's for sure, the VW Racing Cup regulars are not going to go easy on Onslow-Cole and there's going to be some fantastic racing all weekend. Get yourself down to Snetterton race circuit in Norfolk, England on the 4th and 5th of August to catch all the action or, alternatively you’ll be able to see all the highlights on TV around the World (see the TV Schedule for full details).
