Performance exhaust manufacturer Milltek Sport has advanced the aftermarket industry once again with the launch of its factory-finished ceramic coated downpipes. Partnering with the market leader in thermal management, Zircotec, Milltek’s new product line offers improved engine performance, reliability and efficiency – as well as flawless aesthetics.

For years, many leading tuners and motorsport teams have utilised Zircotec’s unique ceramic coating for increased exhaust product performance, so this latest development by Milltek Sport takes things to the next level by providing a unique and complete solution directly to the industry.

Zircotec’s coatings have been developed over many years and are seen in some of the toughest racing environments, including Formula 1. Not only do the coatings help to prevent heat loss from the exhaust itself, but also work to protect surrounding components from unwanted heat. Once the Zircotec coating is applied, Milltek’s own tests show a reduction in surface temperature of up to 33%, which equates to a reduction in under bonnet temperatures of up to 50%. As many sophisticated engine maps and ECUs wind out boost and fuel when they see rising heat, this can help to maintain horsepower and torque.

The thermal barrier coating application is now part of Milltek’s manufacturing process, where the downpipes will go through a number of added stages inclusive of a thorough surface preparation. The result of the full coating process will be an effective thermal barrier at only 0.3mm thickness, made up of proprietary Zirconia ceramics. The coated Milltek Sport downpipes will then be ready to be delivered directly to the hands of those searching for the best performance exhaust upgrades.

Suitable up to 900°C, there won’t be many applications that the new Milltek downpipes won’t be suitable for. Off the shelf, Milltek will be offering their performance downpipes in ‘Stealth Grey’ a uniquely developed colour bespoke to Milltek. That said, all of Zircotec’s 14 Performance Colours will be available for those looking to create something totally unique as well as the Zircotec Performance White coating suitable up to 1,400°C.

The launch range will include Milltek’s core VAG tuner range and popular favourites like the Honda Civic Type R, rolling out into other new high-performance applications as demand dictates.
